Aftermath of the Slaughter of the Spikeshroud

Perc Graysky wiped the orc blood from the flaming white steel of Gasperian as he marched towards Malic. His eyes glanced at the still bodies of the Dormantown children before he shoved Malic backwards.

Perc Graysky:
What in the nine hells were you thinking? Why did you rush them?</dd>

  • Malic Citrate stepped back and looked bewildered.

Perc Graysky: Seriously!

  • Perc moved towards the children and knelt at one of them.

Perc Graysky: This was John Redbeard's son...

  • Perc rose from the corpse and moved back to Malic.

Perc Graysky: Tell me! Why did you rush them!? We could have come back at night... We could have done something... to save the children. You did not have to fight... We... You had already killed dozens. We could have waited.

Malic Citrate: I thought I could get to them first.

Perc Graysky: That doesn't even make sense! Tell me! Why!?

Bisquick: Knock it off, douche. It's not his fault.

Perc Graysky: Do you know why he rushed forward? I want an explanation!

Bisquick: He was trying to save the children.

Perc Graysky: They said that they were going to kill them.

Bisquick: They were orcs. Do you really trust orcs?

Perc Graysky: I trust an orc enough that if he says he is going to do something violent, then he is assuredly going to do it.

Bisquick: If he was going to do it, he would have done it anyway.

Perc Graysky: No! They were using those children for labor. They didn't want to kill them. They were using them as hostages so that you wouldn't kill the rest of them like the dozens of orcs you just did. Which you did; congratulations. But you also killed the kids.

Malic: The best we can do is provide them with a proper burial... and uh, if we should ever come upon ressurection magic, we can come back and restore them.

Bisquick: Personally, I don't like kids much anyway.

Alan Bree: Why not? They provided a much needed distraction.

[[Perc Graysky]: I... I don't understand you people. I thought you were the heroes of Dormantown. Yet all I see and hear from you is a great amount of villainy. You treat life as if it's nothing. John Redbeard's son was a good kid.

Malic: Do you know the rest of their names?

Perc Graysky: I'm sure they were all children of Dormantown.

Perc moved up towards the inn where the armored ogres had come from.

Malic: Are you getting a drink?

Perc opened the door, revealing dead human adults. He fell to his knees at the sight.'

Perc Graysky: I don't understand... It must have been those ogres before they came out. They must have seen you charge and then killed everyone that was inside before engaging you.

Perc started to stalk out of Shorn.

Daeron Elensar: Perc, come back.

[[Alan Bree]: Perc, it was a bad situation! Sometimes there's really no right choice.

Daeron followed Perc out of town and had a private exchange with him.

Daeron: Perc...you have to know that we did not want this...the rest of us were as surprised as you were.

Perc Graysky: Those dwarves were non-repentant. They cared not that the children died. It is that callous disregard for life that makes an orc what it is. And now it is such with those dwarves. They value not any life.

Daeron Elensar: I do not disagree with what you say. The dwarf Bisquick does not value life as one should. We are hoping that traveling with us helps to rehabilitate him. But Malic Citrate... There are times I do not believe he is in control of his actions.

Perc Graysky: I do not understand...

Daeron Elensar: His behavior has become increasingly erratic lately.

Perc Graysky: We are all against the orcs but his kind will be the doom of us all.

Daeron Elensar: I grieve for the the loss of the children...

Perc Graysky: Sure you do...

Perc turns away and walks off.

Daeron Elensar: I promise that if my words will not convince you, then I shall be sure that our future deeds do.
