Shen Lijuan is a master in the art of brush writing, or calligraphy. She teaches all the children of the village to read and write, in addition to her own artistic pursuits, and decoration of the clay works of her husband, Shen Hai. She is also a voice of inspiration to her daughter, Keiko, and her son-in-law to be Fei-Hong Lei, constantly reminding them to pursue their own dreams.
