Hobgoblin Justice

A short while after leaving Shroudbase, a small band of hobgoblins began shadowing the party. The player characters reigned in and the hobgoblin leader came forward to parley with Alan Bree.

The hobgoblin leader explained that there had been witnesses to the murder of the hobgoblin in the Darkmoon Vale. He demanded the surrender of Daeron and Bisquick and ensured that no harm would come to the rest of the party if they cooperated. After some discussion, Alan told the hobgoblin that they were unwilling to give over the two murderers. He openly conveyed that he and his band were authorized to take the father-killers by force, after which he called for the hobgoblins to engage. Four of the hobgoblins moved into melee, while the remaining two opened with spells: a hobgoblin-buffing pillar of magic and a flaming sphere.

The fight took nearly everything the party had, with salvos of scorching rays, spiked chain tripping, and even double blasts of burning hands being used against the player characters.

In the end, the party won, though a number of characters were not pleased by how the events had come to pass. The infamy of the player characters with hobgoblin nation of the Spikeshroud Mountains grows.

Surviving Blizzards

During the night after the hobgoblin encounter, a terrible blizzard moved into the region. The temperature dropped rapidly and the party was forced into finding cover to take shelter from the storm. Into the next day, the blizzard continued, causing numerous troubles for the party. Nonetheless, they continued on the route to Jaliveth, the first elven settlement beyond the Elvareen border.

Mounds of snow and swirling wind kept visibility to a minimum, but on the second day the party did detect a number of creatures moving towards the north. Upon investigation, the party discovered that the creatures were constructs made of ice. The pack was led by a large humanoid-shaped creature made out of blocks of ice, with two smaller ice constructs that resembled gargoyles following behind. The party wisely decided not to engage, fearing that the constructs belonged to some powerful spellcaster.

It took the party over five days to make it to the border of the Elvareen Woods. When they arrived, they discovered that not one inch of the Elvareen Woods was affected by the blizzard. In fact, it was as if a great wall of force was keeping the blizzard contained to the plains of the Dormantown Area.

Jaliveth

The party arrived at Jaliveth on 3 March 1332. They spent little time in the trading town, asked/answered nothing about the blizzard, and moved on after selling off some of their gains.

Corpse in the Woods

As the party traveled through the Elvareen Woods on their way to the multi-cultural city of Melanora, they came upon an elven corpse riddled with large, black puss marks. They attempted to investigate the body, but after a time moved on.

Melanora

The party finally arrived in Melanora on 16 March 1332. There they set about the long business selling off and obtaining items of magical power. Once the power acquisition was complete, the party split up into various groups to embark on their own personal business.

Bisquick, faced with a dwarven community for the first time since he lost his memories, set off to be amongst his own kind. He spent much of the day traveling the dwarven ward, subtely looking for people that may know him or his heritage. He was not successful in locating anyone that knew him, but he did spend some time speaking with the Sentinels of Sharlrock, a military organization dedicated to defending the dwarven way.

Fagan von Feld, finally in a sizeable city, set out to hunt down some presence of The Order of Smashdor. Indeed, he learned that Torvin Gallut, a prestigious member of the Order, was giving exhibitions at the Might of Kord. After a rousing display of destruction, Torvin speaks with Fagan about the barbaric cleric's desire to join the Order. Fagan is tasked with lifting an extremely heavy rock, and after doing so the druid made Fagan an introductory member. To advance his admission, Fagan must next defeat an ogre in an arm-wrestling match.
